                                      so um, remember that headcanon about fear ?  this is the only thing mj fears. romantic relationships. why ?  because she’s seen her mother’s true love twist into something so gross and disgusting. into abuse and hatred. which makes her believe that true love or love in general is something that’s not wholly possible or real.  i also think a part of her ( because of what her father had said to her ) makes her feel like she’s unworthy of it, that she’s not strong enough to have it.  she knew that love and romance deterred her mother from her dreams, it derailed her sister’s dreams and for both her mom and sister, it destroyed them, left them with nothing but heartache. she’s watched it die over and over again so she’s not the type to allow it to tie her down.  when she often gets close to someone like that, she will try to run, try to avoid it.  mary jane has the capacity to love so fully, selflessly, so blindly that she fights to avoid it.

                                    as far as platonic relationships, mary jane is an amazing friend to have. she’ll be your warrior, your shoulder to cry on, your drinking buddy. you could be fighting one minute but if she hears that something has happened, she’ll be on your door step to be there for you at a moment’s notice. no. matter. what.  

                                     as far as familial, she’s a mess. she won’t talk about her family. not openly. not ever. she carries a lot of guilt over leaving her sister. a lot of pain over the death of her mother. and a lot of hate for her father. her aunt she loves dearly but will never even let her aunt see beyond this role, this mask she’s created for herself. mary jane’s mother was the only one that new the girl behind it even when she was adamant to hide her.  she’ll do anything for her aunt anna. keep her safe. and she easily adopts others as her family, especially peter’s aunt may.
